What makes this undertaking particularly imperative is a gradual decline in the quality of literary criticism or literary appreciation among some vital intelligentsias of the world. One could only hope that the same is not true of most ‘English Departments’ of Western universities, for, if this is found to be true of them too, the future of English Literature could very well be considered bleak. |
