Waves of Inspiration

Ramani Fernando Hair and Beauty Academy had their graduation ceremony and annual hair show at the Galadari hotel recently.

It was a great evening with graduating students transforming tresses of over sixty models creating a show which could be aptly described as ‘stunning’.

Choreographed and produced by Senaka de Silva it was a show well presented, sleek and slick..

The show had all the trappings of an international hair show, reflected the creative talents of the students to the fullest through extraordinary theatrical and period hairstyles on models.

The Chief Guest for the evening was Amal Cabraal, Chairman Unilevers Srilanka Ltd., and his wife Priya. Also present was Saumya Perera, the Brand Manager for Sunsilk. The live wire Directress of the Ramani Fernando Sunsilk Hair and Beauty Academy Lucky Lenagala opend the proceedings with a welcome address. The opening sequence presented by batch number 2 was titled ‘Inspiration flora; and the hair styles and clothes the models wore was based on the flower specially the arum Lilly. Batch 3 went with "Techno Vision" the hair styles geared to the disco going young.

There were two fantasy creations by batch number 1 which were certainly fantastic and won many applause.

Then came the "40’s Galmour" from batch 1. Of styles from the days of Marylyn Monroe and other screen sirens. The ensembles were designed by Michael Wijesuriya .. Finally the segment presented by batch number 4. Black and Blonde was the embodiment of elegance in a shot back fabric from Fabric Gallery. The compere for the event was smart and chic Kumar de Silva

The opening sequence was a dance by the students of Deanna School of Dancing choreographed by Natasa Jayasuriya was breathtakingly beautiful.

Suramya Perera, Sunsilk’s Brand Manager, commenting on Sunsilk’s involvement in the Hair and Beautify Academy said "Sunsilk, Unilver’s flagship hair care brand is all about empowering young women to take control of their life. Following the re-launch in 2008 Sunsilk stands by its ‘Life can’t wait’ theme. The academy has provided us an ideal platform from which to empower many young entrepreneurs."

Every year Sunsilk awards scholarships to select outstanding candidates passionate about pursuing a career in hairdressing at the academy. The show was compered by stylish and debonair Kumar de Silva.
