Elaborate arrangements on an islandwide scale have been made by members of the public, sales agents and employees of Upali Group of Companies to commemorate the 26th Anniversary of the disappearance of Mr. Upali Wijewardene the Founder, Chairman of Upali Group and others, which falls on 13th February 2009.

This, event will be commemorated by holding various religious ceremonies like Buddha Poojas, sil and meditation campaigns in temples in both urban and rural areas.

On the 13th from 9.00 a.m. there will be a blood donation campaign at the Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya organized by employees of the Upali Group of Companies.

Besides arrangements are been made to offer Alms giving to the Maha Sangha at Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya and scholarships to 10 needy children from Helena Wijewardane Maha Vidyalaya, Kelaniya.

Bodhi Pooja will be held from 6.00 p.m. at the Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya.

A special pooja will be held at the Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy with the participation of Maha Sangha and Diyawadana Nilame at 10.00 a.m., Aims Giving, Lunch will be given to the inmates of "Asarana Sarana" Elders Home, Kandy at 11.30 a.m. and Bodhi Pooja and Pahan Pooja pinkama at Sri Natha Devalaya, Kandy at 5.30 p.m.

Special bodhi pooja and pahan pooja will be held at Sri Saman Devalaya, Ratnapura, organized by the UNL Ratnapura Branch and our Kandos and Delta sales agents.

The employees of Upali Trading Co. has arranged an Aims Giving - Lunch for the ‘Children’s Home" at Ja-Ela.

Holy mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Bambalapitiya at 9.30 a.m.

Founder’s Day Programme 13th February 2009 :

8.30 a.m. - Blood Donation Camp at Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya, organized by the employees of Upali Group of Companies.

9.30 a.m. - Holy mass at St. Mary’s Church, Bambalapitiya.

10.30 a.m. - Serve tea for the Blood Donation team & Directors & employees of Upali Group of Companies who will be present at that time.

11.00 a.m. - Scholarships to 10 needy children from Helena Wijewardane Maha Vidyalaya, Kelaniya.

12.00 noon -Alms giving lunch for the Childrens Home, Ja-Ela, organized by the employees of the Upali Trading Co. Ltd.
