Thai cargo sales in SL increase by 50 percent

Andre Fernando, Chief Executive Officer, Mac Holdings, The General Sales Agent for Thai Airways International Cargo, said that cargo sales of the airline has increased by 50% during the last three years and added that the company is wants to further improve the cargo sales in the coming year.

Fernando was speaking at a ceremony to mark the third anniversary of Mac Holdings being appointed GSA for Thai Airways cargo, in Colombo.

Fernando warned "The effects of the global economic downturn will be there for at least the next two years but expressed confidence that the company’s strong financial background will help weather the storm during the turbulent period."

Fernando appreciated the support and encouragement extended by the Thai Airways.

Weerawat Swasdibutra, General Manager, Thai Airways International for Sri Lanka and Maldives said that the increase in rental of the first class lounge at the Bandaranaike International Airport from 18 USD to 25 USD per head is a matter of concern for all airlines operating here.

As a result we have been forced to revert to Araliya Lounge he said.
