President tells Lankan expats

President Mahinda Rajapaksa, in his address to the nation at the 61st Independence Anniversary celebrations held at the Galle Face Green yesterday, said that he was confident that in a few days Sri Lanka would defeat the terrorist force that many repeatedly kept saying was invincible.

US, UK insist on political solution
The United States and United Kingdom jointly reaffirmed their insistence on a political solution to Sri Lanka’s longstanding conflict and said the LTTE and the Government must respect the international law of armed conflict.
