Mark Twain and the CMC

Once in every three months or so when the CMC warns of fast spreading

dengue it reminds me of Mark Twain’s remark on the weather. He said

everybody complains of the weather but nobody does anything about it.So it is with garbage. CMC’s Chief Medical Officer, according to the ‘Sunday Times’ of February 1 had said, "mosquito breeding places have increased due to poor garbage disposal and collection and ignorance"( Everybody  is aware of these). Now I wonder why he doesn’t make this complaint to his superiors and his colleagues in the relevant divisions. As for ‘ignorance’, it is up to the CMC authorities to educate the public. We haven’t seen even a poster warning the public. We the taxpayers cannot undertake these tasks. It is to get these services that we pay taxes.Sometime back we were told that the public health inspectors work round the clock.

We have not seen them during the daytime! It is impossible to make a complaint to the CMC.Letters are not replied and  no response from the concerned officers to telephone calls. Any response, if any, is from a boorish secretary. At least to get a reply cannot the CMC   provide an  email service. If the staff officers are given an email address the taxpayer can write and there is proof of the complaint.

That will save a lot of time of the public as well as that of the officers .After all, this is supposed to be the year of Information Technology.
