Zimbabwean leader says he’ll stick to power deal
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AP) - Zimbabwe’s president says he’s committed to forming a national unity government with the opposition.
But opposition officials in Zimbabwe say meetings to fine-tune the power-sharing deal didn’t take place Tuesday.
Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe said at the African Union summit that his country is "on the path to creating an all-inclusive government."
Zimbabwe has been in a political crisis since disputed a presidential election last March. A power-sharing deal reached in September stalled for months. Last week the opposition said it would join a unity government early next month.
Deadlock over the deal has left the government paralyzed amid a spiraling economic crisis and a cholera epidemic.
