

Prof G. L. Peiris, Minister of Export Development and International Trade was the chief guest at the 50th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the National Chamber of Commerce held at the Hotel Galadari recently. Kiyoshi Araki, Ambassador of Japan was the guest of honour.
D. Eassuwaren completed his tenure of office as President of the Chamber and Lal De Alwis took over as the new President.
Prof. Peiris in his keynote address, paid special tribute to the work done by the Chamber under Eassuwaren’s leadership to promote Small and Medium sector enterprises in agriculture and industry.
The Minister referred to the results which are being achieved in the export development villages, largely because of the linkages between the producers of primary commodities and export oriented companies.
Ambassador Araki spoke of Japan’s contribution to the success of these ventures.
