The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) yesterday condemned the attack on Dr. W. Atapattu, the Director of North Central Health Services.
He was pulled out of his vehicle and assaulted by a mob and is now undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the Anuradhapura General Hospital, the GMOA said in a statement.
"We vehemently condemn this assault and urge the police to apprehend the suspects without delay".
A protest campaign will be launched on Tuesday (10) in the Anuradhapura district in this connection, the statement said.
The All Ceylon Government Medical Officers’ Association has also condemned this attack on Dr. Atapattu.
"we will resort to tough trade union action if a proper investigation is not held and the culprits brought before the law", the Association’s President, Dr. Gishantha Dassanayake warned.
