Saturday, Feb 07: RAMANATHAPURAM: One more Sri Lankan fibreglass boat was found abandoned at a landing point near Rameswaram on Friday. Security agencies suspect that it could have come ashore in the early hours. On January 24, a Sri Lankan national escaped from the island after landing in a fibreglass boat at Serankottai near Rameswaram. Within a day, another boat was found abandoned at the 5th islet near Dhanushkodi.
Though security agencies have collected some inputs about the arrival of a suspected Sri Lankan on January 24, he has not been arrested yet.
Four fishermen of Pamban alleged that they were beaten up by Sri Lankan Navy on Thursday and lodged a complaint with the Assistant Director of Fisheries, Rameswaram. (The Hindu)
