

26th ITF Junior Int’l C’ship in Colombo from Feb. 23-28
The 26th ITF Junior (Under-18) Championship will get staged at the Singhalese Sports Club (SSC), Colombo, from February 23-28. The tournament, the first ITF event staged in Sri Lanka this year, will be held in the five outdoor clay courts at the SSC.
Entries for the tournament were closed on Feb. 2 and the last withdrawal date for entries is Feb. 9.
The Qualifying Draw for both girls and boys will begin on Feb. 20. The Singles Main Draws of both segments will be on Feb. 22.
Both the Qualifying Draw and the Main Draw will be a 32-players one. The Doubles Main Draw, which will begin on Feb. 23, will have a 16-pair draw.
Girls’ Acceptance List (45 players in total):
Sri Lanka (9) - Seven players in the main Acceptance List. Namely: Jithmie Jayawickrema (Seed 1) (Current ITF Junior World Rank 380), Amritha Muttiah (8) (846), Shenalie Weerasinghe (11) (1356), Sherene Wijesinghe (12) (1465), Kemalie Herath (13) (1465), Roshenka Fernado and Nilushi Fernando. There are two to qualify for the Main Draw. Namely: Dhanya Madugalle and Madushani Rajendram
From other countries: India – 17, Japan - 6, Thailand - 5, Pakistan - 2, Great Britain - 1, Canada - 1, China - 1, Philippines – 2 and USA - 1.
