The security forces last night shot down two LTTE aircraft and foiled a desperate LTTE attempt to mount a Kamikaze type attack on the Air Force Headquarters at Slave Island and either Sapugaskanda or the Katunayake Airbase.


Army 500 meters from Puthukuduiyirippu
The LTTE had kept up artillery fire from the no fire zone as the troops moved towards the northern borders zeroing in on Puthukuduiyirippu town, the sources said.

JVP fights against water tariff hike
The JVP fired its first salvo against the proposed water tariff hike by demanding that the government declare null and void the gazette notification seeking to increase water prices.

Two burnt LTTE aircraft found
The security forces, on entering Puthukudiiruppu North on Thursday, found the partially burnt remnants of two aircraft believed to have been in the process of being built.
