Turnover drops drastically, indices register decline

Yesterdays trading resulted in a drastic drop from Rs.1681 million to a dismal Rs.63 million. Both indices also recorded losses with the ASI at 1726.91 declining 7.50 points (-0.43%) and MPI losing 9.84 points (-0.53%) at 11833.88.

Among the transactions which crossed the threshold volume of 100,000 (value discounted) were Ceylinco Seylan 0.352mn at Rs.7.25 (unchanged)., JKH 0.178mn at Rs. 64.75 losing=/50cts, Piramal Glass 0.214mn at Rs.1.50 (unchanged)), Seylan Bank (n/v) 1.069mn at Rs.6.25 losing =/25cts, Sierra Cables 0.127mn at Rs.1.30 (unchanged), Tess Agrro 0.352 mn at =/70cts (unchanged) and Lanka Cement 0.459mn at Rs.13.50 losing =/50cts.

Overseas Reality informed the Stock Exchange of a first and final dividend payment of =/40cts per share payable on April 2, 2009.

Dankotuwa Porcelain PLC also informed the CSE of a loss of export orders from Crate and Barrel of the USA. The value of the orders received during the past three years was around USD one million on an average each year and is considered a significant loss as it was approximately nine per cent of the Dankotuwa export turnover.
