The hotel "suffered minor damages after the LTTE aircraft crashed in to the nearby Inland Revenue Department building on Friday night.
Trans Asia’s Public Relations Manager Padmi Fernando admitted that the glass panels in certain parts of the hotel were shattered due to the impact of the explosion but said it didn’t warrant closure of the entire hotel.
The glass panels in the ball room, a few rooms, coffee shop, pastry shop and the signature restaurants Royal Thai, Saffron and Long Feng were shattered due to the impact, but they are all now functioning except for Royal Thai which is due to re open on the 28 th of this month she said.
Asked whether the incident had created a negative impact in the minds of the tourists she said they were not perturbed and were quite cooperative and understanding .
The management had asked whether any of the guests would want to be transferred to another hotel of the group such as Cinnamon Grand but they were quite content continuing their stay at Trans Asia she said.
