Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) of Germany will construct 60 houses with toilets in Koralai Pattu South D.S. Division in Batticaloa with the assistance of National Housing Development Authority (NHDA).

The total cost of this project is Rs. 33 million. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Housing and Common Amenities the NHDA will implement this project and signing of the agreement of this project were held at the NHDA head office yesterday (16 February). On behalf of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund, Dr. Cynthia M. Caron, Programme Manager of NSB has signed this agreement and General Manager of NHDA, Mr. L.S. Palansuriya has signed on behalf of the NHDA.

ASB and NHDA agreed to collaborate within the framework of a project of Owner Driven Construction of 60 houses at Koralai Pattu, South & Koralai Pattu West D.S. Division Batticaloa District.

Selection of beneficiary families of this project will be done by the respective Divisional Secretaries under the guidance of the District Secretary of Batticaloa.

With the financial assistance of ASB, NHDA will act as a technical facilitator and provide technical oversight in this programme. Beneficiary families will receive Rs. 500,000/- grant for the construction of these houses and another Rs. 50,000/- for the construction of toilets.

The NHDA has made the preparatory activities for the inauguration of this project within the next few days and they were targeted to complete this project within the next 03 months.
