Interhelp German Society helps to build Balapitiya hospital
waste water project

A German journalist and the President of Interhelp German Society for international aid Organization rushed to Sri Lanka with his members to help Tsunami Victims and started a mobile hospital at Peraliya where the train accident occurred on the 26th of December 2004.

Interhelp was the first foreign organization that built the first permanent house in Sri Lanka after Tsunami Disaster and they built 68 houses in Galle District in order to remove Tsunami Victims from schools and Temples soon. Interhelp Donated 15 fishing boats, engines and nets for poor 15 fishermen and Interhelp built, a beautiful Montessorri school for the children in Telwatta area on a land donated by chief incumbent Pituwala Sumana Thera, of the Totagama Purana Viharaya and computers were donated to start a computer class in it.

In addition to this, equipment for emergency unit and eye clinic, intercom telephone line.

A waste incinerating plant and the sewage system for the hospital were donated to Balapitiya Base Hospital.

Ulrist Behrman, the president, Prince Alexander of Schaumburg-Lippe, the patron, Mr. Reinhold Klosterman the vice president and Mr. Michael Gorbing, member of Interhelp organization visited Sri Lanka for ceremonial opening at Balapitiya Hospital.

They visited Telwatta Purana Temple, and they were welcomed warmly by children of Hamlein Montessorri School. They were very happy with the performance of the Montessorri school children. Rev. Pituwana Sumana Thero had started a building for the Vijayaba Pirivena with the money donated by Interhelp. They examined the progress of the pirivena building and promised for the rest of the work. At present the Pirivena is held at Dharma Shalawa which is used by the devotees.

They donated spectacles for the needy people at Millagasthudumulla village in Payagala and they had a discussion with Acqua Technologies of Sri Lanka to supply drinking water for the villagers at Pinhena village in Beruwala.

Mr. Amarasiri Kuriwage, the coordinating secretary to Hon. Amarasiri Dodangoda, the Minister of Justice and Law Reforms and Mr. Mangala Fernando, the owner of White Bridge House Hotel, at Kaluwamodara, Alutgama coordinated the above projects.

Interhelp German Society for International aid is a non profit, charitable and independent aid organization which supports people in emergency situations worldwide particularly in the wake of grave natural catastrophes, such as earthquakes and floods.
