Southern Provincial Council Chief Minisiter Shan Wijayalal De Silva predicted that when the elections to elect new PCmembers after the dissolution of the Council UPFA would achieve a thumping victory and the UPFA would emerge stronger.

After the security forces chased the LTTE from their occupied territory under the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapakse, people would be convinced that the government was capable of bringing peace to the country.

The government had implemented a large number of projects and build many roadways in the South during the last three years, he said.
