Following an LTTE plane crashing into the Inland Revenue Department head office at Sir Chittampalam A. Gardiner Mawatha in Colombo on Friday night ,arrangements have been made to accept VAT payments at the Jawatte premises or any other Bank of Ceylon branch within the city limits, the IRD said yesterday.

The Bank of Ceylon Branch at the Inland Revenue Department head office is temporarily closed.

VAT returns could be handed over at the special counter set up at the

ground floor of the head office or to the Regional Office at Jawatte, it said.

Officers of the Tax Services Unit or officers of any regional office could be contacted for information on any other essential service.

The Department request tax payers to continue to pay taxes and avoid visiting the head office for any other purpose until necessary arrangements are made for such services.
