*Road will open for civilians soon – Jaffna SF Cdr.
The Sri Lanka Army yesterday re-opened the Jaffna – Kandy A9 highway to the peninsular after 27 years.
Security Forces Commander Jaffna, Major General Mendaka Samarasinghe, ceremonially opened the highway at Elephant Pass. Commander of 55 division of the SL Army, Brigadier Prasanna Silva and several other officers attended the ceremony.

Water levels receding fast
Water levels at the major reservoirs are dropping at an alarming rate and by yesterday noon the capacity was 27 per cent, according to senior sources of the Ceylon Electricity Board.

SC orders PM, Ranil to send names of CC nominees to President
The Supreme Court yesterday directed the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition to immediately send the names of six nominees already selected to be appointed to the Constitutional Council to President Rajapaksa.
