Sri Lanka juniors suffered a 0-3 defeat at the hands of Uzbekistan last Friday in their second Junior Davis Cup tie played at Yangon, Myanmar.

Vimuktha de Alwis lost to Jakhongir Jalolov 1-6, 2-6

Ashan de Silva lost to Abdulvoris Saitmukhamedov 0-6, 0-6,

V. de Alwis & Thuruna Eshwarage lost to J. Jalolov & A. Saitmukhamedov 1-6, 1-6

SL lost to Pakistan 1-2 on the first day of the tournament.

SL features in Group ‘B’ along with Pakistan, Mongolia and Uzbekistan. The Group ‘A’ comprises Singapore, Myanmara and Bahrain.

This is Junior Davis Cup 2009 Asia-Oceania Zone Pre-Qualifying Round held under ITF Referee Alexis Anslem Wan. SL’s Non Playing Captain is Ganendran Subramaniam. The event was to be over last Monday (9).

SL junior teams that participated in this year’s Junior Fed Cup, World Juniors Boys and World Junior Girls events, held at the same Yangon venue, got through to their respective next rounds last week.
