

The President of the CMM Capt. A.V. Rajendra stated that the international seminars namely, ‘Quest for Oil in Sri Lanka’, ‘Development on International Safety Management’ and ‘Colombo 2010 - An Emerging Regional Mega Port’ were worthy of mention, which were met with resounding success.
Expressing views at the occasion, on ‘New Hambantota Port Development & the Business Plan’ Chairman of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Dr. Priyath Bandu Wickrama stated that in the near future, facilities will be granted via Hambantota Port Development Project opening more business opportunities for Ro-Ro operations of vehicles, Fertilizer and ware house facilities.
Expressing further views the Chairman of SLPA stated that steps will be taken very soon to call Requests for Proposals (REP) to facilitate these activities from external parties working as a joint venture with SLPA.
Managing Director of SLPA Capt. Nihal Keppetipola, Harbour Master Capt. Ravi Jayawickrama, Chief Engineer (Southern Port Development Project) Janaka Kurukulasuriya, Deputy Harbour Master Capt. A. Hewavitharana and a number of professionals in the maritime sector had also participated at the function.
The support extended to the Association by the industry, had encouraged CMM to organize this presentation with the support of the Organization of Professionals Association (OPA) on an important project initiated by the government.
