The Government of Maldives condemned the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore, Pakistan, by gunmen in which some policemen were killed and Sri Lankan cricketers injured, a press release issued by Maldivian High Commission in Colombo said.

The statement said that it sympathized with the Sri Lankan cricket team and conveyed its sincere sympathy to cricketers’ families. Denouncing the heinous act on the team, the Government of Maldives emphasized that it supported peace and security and advocated to fulfil one’s objective through peaceful means.
