Governments and financial intermediaries throughout the globe have explored and implemented this new financial system, which is based on Shariah principles and contracts. Sukuks are issued by Governments and Multinational Corporations, giving them the opportunity to access a wider spectrum of investors.
RAM Ratings Lanka is organizing a workshop titled "Islamic Finance: Reality or Myth" on 19 March 2009 at the Cinnamon Grand. The workshop will be conducted by Roslan Abdul Razak, Director of Training and Shariah Business Advisory of Islamic Banking and Finance Institution of Malaysia. Roslan, a veteran in Islamic finance in Malaysia played a significant role in Malaysia’s maiden sukuk issuance in 1994.
RAM Ratings Lanka is a SEC registered credit rating agency and will be organizing various educational events to build capacity in the local capital markets. This workshop is designed to expose and provide valuable insights to the participants on the pillars and foundation of Islamic Finance. Participants would be taken for a tour and explore into the ethical world of Islamic finance. Along the journey, misconceptions, issues, challenges as well as the prospects of Islamic, finance in various Islamic markets, will be addressed.
