No confidence motion moved against Ranil
Adjourned evening meet on the issue postponed

A stormy UNP Parliamentary Group meeting, at which Lakshman Seneviratne MP, moved a verbal No Confidence motion against UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday morning, was adjourned for the evening, but it was postponed later in the day.
At the time of going to press, Wickremesinghe was presiding over a meeting at Cambridge Terrace attended by some senior UNPers, informed sources told The Island.

East gets bumper paddy harvest
Paddy farmers of the East enjoyed a bountiful Maha harvest contributing 35 per cent to the country’s production. Only the Ampara District remains to be harvested, Eastern Provincial Minister of Agriculture Dr. Thuraiappah Navaratnarajah said yesterday.
