Former Chief Minister of the Western Province and Leader of the UPFA Group in Kalutara Reginold Cooray yesterday said that he was confident that the team fielded by the SLFP from the Western Province would be victorious.

The former Chief Minister, who has held several senior Ministerial portfolios in the Peoples Alliance (PA) Government before he stepped down to become the Chief Minister, said people of the Western Province would be wise to strengthen the hands of Government.

This poll could also be construed firstly as a Referendum for stability, peace and prosperity and secondly to continue with the gigantic development activities that were launched by the Provincial Council.

The UPFA team in Kalutara comprises Lal Kulasinghe, Chandrabanu Adikaram, Yasapala Koralage, Lalith Ellawala, Piyal Nishantha, Anil Kumara Wijesinghe, Chandrasiri Karunaratne and Nimal Chandraratne.

In Colombo it comprises Hector Bethmage, Gamini Thilakasiri, Sumith Wijemuni Soysa, Keerthi Udawatte, Upali Kodikara, Thilakaratna Rajapaksa and Isuru Devapriya.

Gampaha is led by Prasanna Ranatunga and comprises Rohanasiri Waragoda, Sandya Siriwardena, Sunil Wijesinghe, Merril Perera, Nicha Jayawickrema, Ranjith Rupasinghe, Chandana Jayakody and Gunasiri Jeyamanna.
