Hang the mindless criminals

There have been quite a few Sadu types who have been writing against the execution of those who have been sentenced to death. Is any one of them a relative of those who have suffered at the hands of these killers? Take the case of the Hamers who were unmercifully hacked to death by hired killers? Anyone out there whose wife died as a result of an LTTE bomb—- My thoughts go out to the families of all those innocents who were killed by Prabhakaran, the Pol Pot of Eelam, and his goons Let me recall a few of the murders committed at his instance:

The latest brutal killing of an innocent little girl in Trincomalee is the pits; this country has been plagues by violent crime in recent years and the brutality of each one of them has shocked the nation more than the brutality indulged in the previous instance. The President must act to save our most fundamental of human rights our right to live and not be at the mercy of senseless murderers.

1) The slaughter at the Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura on 14th May 1985 when 120 pilgrims were shot dead.

2) The massacres at Mamaduwa on22/7/86 where 32 were killed; Madawachchiya on 24/7/86 where 40 were killed inside a bus; Mahakongaskada w also in Medawachchiya where 44 peasants were shot dead. Aranthalawa 28 were butchered with knives on 7/2/ 87;Habarana Road massacre where 127 were shot dead on ‘17/4/87; the massacres on one day and night on 15th October 1992 in five villages –Palliyagodella, Ahamedpura, Agbopura, Pamunurana and one other village where on less than 173 were shot dead. Let us also remember the 108 monks who were ordered off hteir busses and mowed down at Aranthalawa and the 133 men women and children who were butchered at Gonagala in 2001. Should not those who committed these gruesome murders not hang? Let us not be hippocries. What aabout the Central bus stand bomb at Pettah claimed the lives of 120 civilians, the Maradana bomb claimed 37 almost all children; the Dehiweela bomb killed 70 and last but not least let us remember the 640 policemen who were killed after they surrendered to the LTTE, should not those murders including Karuna not be hanged? Let us also remember those who died in the Central Bank bomb which killed 87 civilians and injured over 500 hundred amongst whom was a 36 year old niece of mine who is blind after that attack. I have listed only a few out of the 128 atrocities committed by and at the instance of Prabhakaran. He like Pol Pot destroyed the human rights of thousands—— who is there among you so called humanists who can stand up and say that society has no right to take his life and those of the others who killed innocent civilians because he deprived others of their lives? Speak up.

Incidentally I am all for a judicial inquiry even now into the killing of innocent Tamil civilians in 1983 and the prisoners who were in the custody of the State in the Welikada jail. All those who committed premeditated murder must be executed. If hanging be considered gruesome let us introduce the Electric Char or the Lethal Injection, but by whatever for they must be executed.

Let us not be pious frauds. The horrible crimes being committed in this country cannot be allowed to pass unpunished. Executions may not put an end to them all but certainly those who commit pre-planned gruesome crimes such as those mentioned above and crimes we have head of recently such as raping and killing of children can have only one punishment and that is Execution. We demand that the government act and act now to reintroduce executions for premeditated murder and also for importing and selling hard drugs. Instead of the hangman let us introduce the electric chair as is found in many parts of the US or the lethal injection.

Check out the heinous crime situations in Singapore, Malaysia and the Middle East where the death sentence is carried out for such offences and you will have the answer, the state has a duty to protect its citizens. Mr. President we citizens expect you to act now, you owe it to us. Let us have a pledge from the political parties contesting the current elections that they will support the President if he re-introduces capital punishment to save us the people from the dastardly criminals who have begun to plague our society.
