Transport Minister Dallas Alahapperuma told Parliament yesterday (20) that the upgrading of the southern coastal railway line with trains travelling at over 120 km per will commence next month.
Agreements for upgrading the railway line were signed with an Indian company, he said.
Transport Minister Alahapperuma was answering a question raised by UNP Colombo District MP Ravi Karunanayake.
The renovation will be on an Indian credit line. The first stage of the upgrading of the track would be between Matara and Kalutara South. (SI)
