Tihagoda Police on Monday arrested four persons suspected of a spate of robberies in the Galle, Uragaha and Aluthgama. Thihagoda and Kithalagama Grama Niladhari Division and robbing cash and jewellery. The same gang had robbed three more households in the Yatiyala area.

On interrogation, they had admitted to committing three more robberies in the Uragaha Police Division in December.

The gang has robbed Rs. 70,000 in cash with gold jewellery, four cellular phones and wrist watches.

The robbed articles had been sold to a merchant in the Alutgama area, they told police.

A team of officers under the supervision of OIC Thihagoda Police, SI Sudath Masinghe is conducting further investigations.
