

Modern Kidney Treatment and Research Centre opens at Anuradhapura
A state-of-the-art Kidney Treatment and Research Centre, constructed at a cost of Rs.290 million, at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, was declared open by Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva recently.
The National Kidney Foundation constructed the centre with local and foreign donations.
The government and the people of the North-Central Province had also contributed towards the construction of the Centre. It is a 6-storey building replete with highly sophisticated medical equipment.
The centre consists of male and female wards, children’s wards, an operating theatre, kidney transplant unit and intensive care unit. About 90 kidney patients and 30 inpatients can be treated at the centre.
