Jith directs a revue

Returning to the field of music, song and dance Jith Pieris directed a
non-stop revue at the Lionel Wednt theatre last week. He brought on stage
a number of established artistes with some amateurs for a varied evening
of entertainment. Among the well known was Peshali Yapa who sang "I am
tone deaf" expertly accompainied by Eshanth Peiris. This show titled When
It’s Spring Again was sponsored by the Dr. Chanaka Amaratunge Foundation
and Tex Corporation Sri Lanka Ltd. And late Chanaka’s mother Swarna was
the Chief Guest, with Nirmala Wickremasinghe as the guest of honour. This
Creative Arts Presentation brought Tony Fernandez and partner in a
demonstration of an exquisitely danced old waltz full of fluid movement
and grace. There was a modern dance performed by Tarja de Silva and
Bharatha de Silva. A choral presentation by the Bishop’s College Choir,
and a Chrous from the Manaka Singers and Shenelle Fernando in song, were
among the other noteworthy items.
A full house enjoyed the evening’s entertainment which could have done with better technicalities and a finale.
