KANDY: One death and sixty four (64) cases of injured persons have been reported during the two days of the Sinhala and Hindu New Year celebrations in Kandy.

An alleged homicide was reported from Augusta-watta in Kandy where a father of two had been the victim.

Police have arrested the alleged assailant.

Sixty four persons with injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents and other incidents including clashes during the two festive days were admitted to the Kandy hospital.

They are out of danger, hospital sources said yesterday (15).
