A 36-year-old mother of two, committed suicide by consuming pesticide after failing to admit one of her children to a school.

The deceased identified as H. S. Mayura Thilangani of Wanchawela, Kanduruduwa, had taken her five-year-old son to two schools for admission to Grade I, but was turned away. Heart broken, she had sent her elder child to a relative’s house and had got down the pesticide from a house in the neighbourhood before consuming it.
