Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Bandula Gunawardena yesterday said that he would resign if prices of the essential items increase due to the Bills exempting government institutions from taxation and the nation building tax. He was speaking to journalists on a recent UNP accusation that the two Bills would lead to a triple increase in prices of essential items in the market. He said that the UNP makes wild allegations in the face of inevitable loss at the forthcoming polls.
