

The Norwegian Government announced that it condemned and would compensate Sri Lanka for the losses it suffered by the LTTE attack on the Embassy in Oslo last Sunday.
In a statement on the attack on the Sri Lanka Embassy in Oslo the Norwegian Government said: "Soon after the Norwegian Government learnt about the attack on the Sri Lankan Embassy in Oslo it condemned the attack and made immediate arrangements to strengthen security at the Embassy.
"Norway is aware of the feelings among a large section of Lankans over this attack. The Norwegian Foreign Minister has contacted his Sri Lankan counterpart and expressed his sympathies over the incident.
"Norway will compensate Sri Lanka for losses caused due to the attack. Police has given top priority to investigations that are being conducted over this attack and speedy measures are being taken to bring the culprits to book.
"The friendship between Norway and Sri Lanka exists for a very long period and Norway always attempted to establish peace within a united Sri Lanka and the attention is now focused on civilians trapped in the conflict zone and wish the problem would be settled without any further aggravation."
