It is indeed a privilege to release this short message for the newspaper supplement of Fox Hill Supercross – 2009. Firstly, it is my bounded duty to pay my highest gratitude, appreciation and respect to the Commander of the Army for granting approval to conduct this event for the 17 successive time.

The Sri Lanka Military Academy is the most prestigious school of military teaching that produces junior and able commanders to our heroic Army. These young commanders who lead our brave soldiers to victory in the ongoing war against the most ruthless terror band of the world one time acclaimed by many to be immortal are products of this academy. The present Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and the present Commander of the Army, who made victory a reality, are the most precious feathers in the cap of this premier institute.

The objective of the Sri Lanka Military Academy organizing the Fox Hill Supercross is to generate the required funds to improve and maintain the infrastructure of the academy to be on par with similar academies in the region.

Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) and the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) have contributed immensely for the event to reach its present high standards. The final touch of glamour to the event is added by all sponsors, competitors and spectators alike for whom our deep felt gratitude is extended. If not for them the event will not be a success. It is the competitive atmosphere created by the competitors and the jeer and cheer of spectators that keep the event moving and give us encouragement to continue with this annual extravaganza. By competing in this event, as well as being spectators, knowingly or unknowingly, all contribute to the success of this spectacular event and to a cause worthy of being part of.

I also take this opportunity to pay my sincere gratitude to the chief guest for gracing the occasion and the president and officials of SLARDAR for their continued cooperation. The invaluable voluntary contribution extended by all media agencies right through organizing of this event is truly appreciated. I wish all competitors good luck and all spectators a fun filled holiday.
