A father of three children in Galle Wakwella road was beaten to death by the son of a relative. The deceased was heavily drunk and had misbehaved at home when the incident occurred. The deceased was H. M. Wimalasiri Fernando (51).

The judicial medical officer U.D.P. Pereara who conducted the post mortem had revealed that heavy damage to the brain had caused the death.
