Kandy - Whatever the force and threats that may come from foreign and Local interest groups President Mahinda Rajapaksa is determined to rescue the Tamil civilians and restore the sovereignty of the country, Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Minister Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella told the Mahanayake Theros of Malwatta and Asgiriya on Saturday 18.

Minister Rambukwella told the prelates that President Mahinda Rajapaksa had obtained a mandate from the people of the country to rescue the nation from LTTE terrorism at any cost.

The people have expressed their willingness to sacrifice for the sake of peace and the sovereignty of the country. The security forces with the blessings of the President and the masses have been capable of confining the LTTE terrorists with their leader to a limited area shielded by civilian Tamils at safe location, Minister Rambukwella told the Most Ven. Tibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Mahanayake Thero of Malwatte and later the most Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakhita Mahanayake Thero of Asgiriya.

Even at this decisive moment, when the LTTE is drawing its last breath, some foreign forces and local individuals whose names are found in the wages list of the LTTE are campaigning against humanitarian operations in the terrorist hideouts, Minister Rambukwella noted.

But President Mahinda Rajapaksa is determined to liberate the entire region from the control of the LTTE terrorists and rescue the Tamil civilians, Minister Rambukwella added.

The prelates said that their blessings were with the President throughout since his efforts were genuine and successful.
