The government has dismissed suggestions that the top LTTE leadership should be allowed surrender to a third party in an effort to bring the final battle to an early end.Authoritative government sources told The Sunday Island that LTTE leaders now trapped in 10 sq. km. area on the Mullaitivu coast should surrender to the army without any further delay or prepared to face the consequences.

The Editor of the Uthayan and Sudar-Oli newspapers, N. Vithiyatharan, who was released from detention last week, said that he had sought a meeting with President Mahinda Rajapaksa."As the editor of two national newspapers, I want to explain my position and also obtain the views of the President", he told The Sunday Island yesterday.
