SLT employees contribute to a house for war heroes

The employees of Sri Lanka Telecom Head Quarters together with the members of the Telecom Officers’ Union made a contribution towards building a house for one soldier who has devoted his life to protect our motherland from the evil grip of terrorism. Ms. Leisha De Silva Chandrasena, Chairperson, SLT presented the cheque to Ms. Ioma Rajapakse, President, Seva Vanitha Unit of the Ministry of Defence.

The Ministry of Defence, under the project "Api Wenuwen Api" has planned to build a total of 50,000 housing units for the armed forces personnel, within the next five years. SLT is very pleased to be a part of this project and is proud of the initiative taken by the employees of SLT Head Quarters and the members of the Telecom Officers’ Union in this regard. These employees have voluntarily contributed a portion of their salary towards this worthy cause.

This is an endeavour to show gratitude and appreciation to the brave men and women who have dedicated their lives to serve our nation by helping to rid the country of the last stronghold of the terrorists and release the innocent civilians trapped in the North and East. This humanitarian gesture deserves the highest accolades and all people should rally behind the armed forces to boost morale and give the maximum help possible.
