Govt. won’t give into intl. pressure - Dullas

The Government will not give in to any international intervention where the LTTE is concerned and the security forces will continue with their humanitarian operations in Mullaitivu, Transport Minister Dullas Alahapperuma, said at a press conference yesterday.
He said even the super powers have no right to interfere in Sri Lanka’s internal matters but any concerned country had the right to inquire into the welfare of innocent civilians.
An emotional Alahapperuma said journalists should not term innocent civilians as internally displaced people who are being liberated after 25 years. Vellupillai Prabhakaran and the LTTE should be termed IDPs instead.
He said taking into consideration the safety of those civilians the Government took the decision to avoid the use of heavy weapons. Following that decision on Monday morning, 22 LTTE cadres surrendered to the security forces.
