Docs given temp. appointments
The Ministry of Health yesterday issued temporary letters of appointment to 232 doctors of the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA), who volunteered to serve in hospitals in Kurunegala, Dambulla, Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Kantalai, Kebitigollewa and Medawachchiya, where hundreds of patients, among the internally displaced, were undergoing treatment.
The GMOA in a press release issued yesterday, said that due to a shortage of doctors, it was faced with a problem to treat the hundreds of patients among the IDPs now transferred to the above hospitals since hospitals in Vavuniya, Mannar, Chettikulam and Padaviya were already full.
