Wimal tells JVP to  correct its flaws

National Freedom Front leader Wimal Weerawansa, MP, called upon his former comrades of the JVP to get rid of their shortcomings so that they could put up a better show at future elections.

Addressing a press conference in Colombo on Tuesday, the former JVP Strongman said that he did not refer to any particular person but to the entire JVP. "If not their fate would be the same as that of the LTTE in Kilinochchi at the forthcoming provincial council elections in the South and Uva," he said.

Weerawansa expressed concern about a statement made by Tilvin Silva, the JVP Secretary, that he was pleased with his party’s performance at the recently concluded Western Provincial Council elections.

"How come he could be pleased when the number of seats they won had been reduced to three. There is no point in attempting to cover up. Even the late leader Rohana Wijeweera accepted defeat in 1989," Weerawansa said.
