The new administration of the SL Squash Federation has drawn up plans to conduct this one-day squash coaching seminar for all the local coaches, senior national pool players, junior national pool players, squash enthusiasts, etc., with the intention of educating them on the latest trends and techniques of the game in coaching and refereeing.

In recent times, squash is fast becoming a very popular sport in the world and many Asian players have reached top world rankings and it is envisaged that this is one sport that Sri Lankan players too could perform well, if the proper training and infrastructure facilities are provided and nurtured at the early stages of their careers. However, due to lack of proper coaching facilities, knowledge of the latest trends, techniques adopted by our international counterparts and the non availability of proper infrastructure support, our players have had little success at international tournaments.

The present committee is endeavouring to promote and develop the game of squash and have drawn up plans to take the game to the outstation with a view of harnessing the hidden talent.

Wing Commander Jaliya Jayasekera, SLAF Vice President and Chairman of the Coaching Committee, is the chief coordinator of the programme, and he will be assisted by (Ms) Yasmin Zarook, a level-3 ASF qualified coach, Colonel Tissa Jayasooriya, a level-2 ASF qualified coach, and Wing Commander Ranjan Samarasinghe (Retd), a level-2 ASF qualified coach. Physical Training practicals will be demonstrated by R. S. Deen.
