SHAH RUKH’S ‘LOVE’ IN BUYING & SELLING WORLD![]() |
A dejected Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, the owner of Kolkata Knight Riders, returned home last Wed. (April 29), vowing that he would not return to South Africa unless his team, led by Brendon McCullum, starts winning in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). An ardent cricket fan, Shah Rukh, cheered for his team for five matches, hoping they will end their losing streak. But it was not to be as Knight Riders bogged down by controversies, languished at the bottom of the standings. The team features star players like Saurav Ganguly, seen in the inset picture here reacting after finishing an over against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Durban on April 29, Ajit Agarkar, Murali Kartik and overseas players like Chris Gayle, Brad Hodge, Davis Hussey, Charl Langeveldt, Mashrafe Mortaza and Sri Lankans like Ajantha Mendis and Angelo Mathews. 'If my team continues to lose like this, I am not going back to South Africa. I will go only when they play well and win,' said Khan. Khan’s reaction is only an indication of the stark nature of a buying-selling world and a true sign of his so-called love for the game of cricket. It is, on the other hand, a good lesson for those who sold themselves for lucrative IPL money.
