The Employers’ Federation of Ceylon will conduct the above Symposium on 14th May 2009 at Waters Edge, Battaramulla.

The main focus of the Symposium will be on issues relating to employment and options available for employers. With employers, employees and trade unions expressing concern at the possible effects on Sri Lanka of the global financial crisis, this Symposium will address various employment related strategies that could be adopted by enterprises facing a downturn in business. The legal consequences of such measures, as well as other possible effects on industrial relations at enterprise level, will also be discussed.

The resource persons will include Dr Ramani Gunatilleke, Economic Consultant, W J L U Wijeweera, Commissioner General of Labour, Gotabaya Dasanayaka, Senior Specialist on Employers Activities, International Labour Organization, Dr Uditha Liyanage, Director, Postgraduate Institute of Management, M R Shah, President, Ceylon Bank Employees Union, Sriyan de Silva, Franklyn Amerasinghe and the Director General of the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon.
