

Leo Burnett tops Chillies 2009

This year’s edition of the country’s most anticipated awards festival, the Sri Lanka Advertising Awards, the Chillies 2009, culminated with a clear win by Leo Burnett, the advertising agency topping the points tally with 121 points, thus becoming Sri Lanka’s most creative agency.
Their points were derived from 2 Gold, 11 Silver, 14 Bronze and 10 Finalists earned by them. Meanwhile, Triad Advertising came in second in terms of points with 1 Grand Prix, 2 Gold, 6 Silver, 11 Bronze and 14 Finalists (101 points) and JWT was third with 1 Best of Show, 5 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze (74 points).
The final points tally was as follows: Leo Burnett = 121, Triad = 101, JWT = 74, Grant McCann Erickson = 55, Phoenix O&M = 18, Saatchi & Saatchi = 11, Lowe LDB = 9, Sarva Integrated = 4, Ad Republik = 3, Grey = 3, Brands Alley = 1, Ogilvy Action = 1
It also must be noted that awards were handed out to 11 agencies out of a total of 20 agencies participating in 2009.
The new points system came into effect this year as part of the Chillies Blueprint 2009, a document ratified by all accredited agencies encompassing the Accredited Advertising Agencies (The 4A’s) of Sri Lanka and the International Advertising Association (IAA), Sri Lanka Chapter. The points system is as follows: 12 points for Best of Show; 10 points for a Grand Prix; 7 points for a Gold award; 5 points for a Silver award; 3 points for a Bronze award; and 1 point for a Finalist.
