Close on the heels of the LTTE losing an earth bund at Karayamulliavaikkal to the advancing 58 Division, the Tigers mounted a desperate attempt to cause some damage to the navy deployed off the Mullaitivu coast. Military sources expected the Sea Tigers to throw all their remaining assets at the navy as the LTTE retreated in the face of the army’s advance.
