Seditious duplicity
Ranil Wickremasinghe has made a statement that India has given military assistance to decimate the LTTE. This statement comes within two days of the poll in Tamil Nadu. Wickremasinghe was not described as the 21st century fox for nothing by Anton Balasingham.
He is well known for duplicitous acts even within his own party, which was one of the principal reasons for many breaking away from the party. He has no doubt made this statement at this point of time to ensure that the DMK which is the coalition partner of the Congress, which has been supportive of this government, is defeated in Tamil Nadu. This man who has been rejected by the Sri Lanka electorate no less than 18 times could not have had any other reason for making such a statement at this time.
He has conveniently forgotten how he entered into an agreement (the CFA) with the LTTE secretly without showing the text to either the Executive President who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces or even the Service Chiefs.
In recent days we have seen the huge stocks of weapons of the LTTE uncovered by the armed services and we realize how the LTTE used the CFA and the naive government of the time of which RW was PM, to prepare to establish their separate state of Eelam.
Wickremesinghe is said to be visiting Brussels to meet officials of the EU —- now why would he be undertaking this visit?
Lakshman Kiriella came out with an inane utterance about the reasons for his leader visiting countries of the EU; he is only visiting to renew acquaintances!!
Why at this time? (He is also visiting his old friend who crafted the CFA for the LTTE.) It surely cannot be with the intention of helping the country in these troubled times? —- he would be going there to make things even more difficult for the government and in actual fact the people, for it is his view (and he will not deny it) that those who voted for Mahinda should be punished —- even if it means that the country is ruined in the process.
Is there no law against sedition in this country?
If they were Malaysia, Wickremesinghe (and also persons such as Sambandan) would be charged with sedition. No one should be allowed to slander this country abroad or undermine its integrity.
Should they not be charged with sedition? It is certainly time for the government to take them head on, Treat them for what they are, enemies of the people of this country. They are basically cowards and are taking advantage of the situation, the authorities must show them that the people of this country demand action against them.
