

Prof. Ranjith de Silva elected BWF council member
Professor Ranjith de Silva, President, Sri Lanka Badminton Association (SLBA), who gained 160 votes, has been elected as a council member of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) at its Annual General Meeting held in Guangzhou, China, last Sunday (10).
Dr. Kang Young Joong was re-elected at this AGM as the BWF President for another four-year term.
The BWF membership elected Paisan Rangsikitpho as their Deputy President. Gregory Verpoorten of Belgium was elected Vice President (Olympic Relations) while, under the new BWF constitution, five others were elected as Vice Presidents from Africa, Asia, Europe, Pan Amarica and Oceania.

Deputy President: P. Rangsikitpho (USA) 167 votes
Vice President (Olympic Relations): Gregory Verpoorten (Belgium) - 166 votes.
