Lankan forum to donate QR47,000 for soldiers
The money (QR 47,000) was raised from the sale of entrance tickets and the publication of a souvenir for the "Api Wenuwen Api" (Be Together For All) musical show organised by the Sri Lankan embassy in collaboration with SLCC in February to coincide with Sri Lanka’s 61st Independence Day celebrations.
"This sum together with a donation of Sri Lanka Rs100,000 from G B Ekanayake, a member of the forum, will be handed over to President Mahinda Rajapakse and defence secretary Gothabya Rajapakse at President’s House on Tuesday by Pantalion Perera, SLCC vice-president," the forum said.
SLCC president Lenny Cramer said that books worth QR2,900 were presented to the Stafford International School Library last Thursday.
The books, bought from the net proceeds of the "Api Wenuwen Api" programme, were handed over to Principal A Rahuman by Ambassador Vijayasiri Padukkage, SLCC chief co-ordinator Nimal Tudewatte and former president of Sri Lankan Community Benevolent Fund (SLCBF) Sanath Kohowilage. (Gulf Times)
